My Saturday mornings start the same way every week, with a BIG cup of coffee filled to the brim with flavored creamer and an added scoop of mocha frappe mix. My to-do list usually has more on it than I have time in the day. This is probably true for most days, and I am sure it is the same way for most of you. Needless to say, my coffee cup is empty far before my to-do list gets checked off.
How full is your cup?
I am not talking about being filled with activities, work, and whatever else we have going on in our lives. Some of our activities are necessary, others not so much. I desire the abundance of God, filled with His presence and blessings. After all, He came that we might have life, and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)
Do you have an empty or only half full cup?
In the busyness of life, we often forget about taking care of ourselves. We make sure those around us are taken care of while we run extremely close to or on empty. Are you the taking time to refuel spiritually? We must make time in our schedule to take care of ourselves, or we won’t be any good to those around us. Be a vessel fit for use. Make sure you are taking the time to pray, read the Bible, journal, those things you do to stay in fellowship with the Lord.
Is your cup filled?
Ephesians 3:14-19 speaks of a life strengthened by the Holy Spirit and filled to the measure with the fullness of God. Do you need to be filled? Ask Him. Nothing missing, nothing lacking. No empty places and no broken pieces. Filled. Filled to walk through this life. God is the only one who can provide what you need let Him fill you.
How about an overflowing cup?
I just cleaned up a mess from my daughter’s fish tank. The filter was bubbling up over the side of the fish tank, and the water spilled out onto the table around it. It was overflowing. This is how our lives should be. Not just filled up, but overflowing.
There are so many blessings available to us because of God. I want to encourage you to do a word study in the Bible for whatever you are needing. Need peace? Start looking up all the scriptures about peace. The possibilities are endless. Peace, joy, love, and everything that God is, the list goes on and on. So much, that not only does it fill us up, but it overflows. It overflows into all areas of our lives touching us and those around us.
“I have told you these things so that you will be filled with joy. Yes, your joy will overflow” John 15:11
Let God continually fill you with what you need, and let your life overflow with God’s goodness.
“My cup overflows.” Psalm 23:5
