A friend and I were talking about a trial that her family was going through. I did my best to encourage her to not give up and to keep trusting. The truth is, this was one of life’s greatest storms that could be handed to you. She had a sick loved one and the doctor’s prognosis didn’t look good. At one point, she made the statement “I don’t know how people ever make it through storms like this without God.” I don’t really know how they do it either.
I am not going to lie about the outcome and make life seem like it always has a happy ending. Her loved one passed away. Not the outcome they were hoping for. Yet, there is a blessing to this story, and in one way there is a happy ending. This person had a relationship with Christ. There is no more pain, no more suffering. They are experiencing eternal life with the One who loves us more than we will ever know.
I am not sure what you might be going through today. Maybe you don’t have a sick loved one, but what you are dealing with feels just as hard. Perhaps this has not been the best day of your life, or even week, month, or year. I don’t know if you have dreams that you haven’t seen fulfilled, if you have children that are not where they need to be spiritually. You might need a healing in your body or maybe your finances could use a boost. There are many trials in this life and without knowing it some of them may be “Mercies In Disguise.”
So what do we do, when we feel like giving up? When life throws us more than what we think we can handle? We hold on, we keep going, and we keep trusting. I am not saying it is easy, but we keep following the only one who gives us hope. There are days we may need to take life one second at a time, and even one step at a time, but we keep going.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
We live in a fallen world, but we have a faithful God who holds you in the palm of His hand, and He will never let you go. You can’t give up. You have to have confidence in Him and that He will do what He said He would do. Even when we are not faithful, God still is. He doesn’t change.
Maybe you haven’t received that answers you were looking for or the outcomes that you were expecting. Hold on and trust Him. Take a look back at what has happened to you over your lifetime. Has God brought you through some stuff? Did He do what He said He was going to do? Do you see His faithfulness?
Where else would we go, what else would we do? There is nowhere to go and no on else to turn to. God is the only answer. I have cried out several times with having nothing more to give as a prayer but “God help me!” Cry out to Him! Whatever you are needing keep seeking God, keep relying on Him. Hold on because He is faithful.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
When you feel like giving up, remember these keys to winning your battle:
- Pray – talk/cry out to God.
- Scripture – read and speak the Word of God
- Praise and worship music – listen to it and sing it!
- Be thankful – both for what God has already done, and for what He is going to do.
- Prayer partner – ask someone to pray for you.
- Seek wise and Godly counsel if needed.
Hold on, don’t let the enemy win “Pick Up Your Weapons and Fight.”
